An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Chartered Civil Engineer to join Gravitas International Ltd, a Manchester-based family business that manufactures and distributes environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional construction products. With roots dating back to 1965, we are a UK-based leader in innovative products for the water, construction, and environmental sectors, committed to lowering the global carbon footprint. Our clients include National Highways, The Environment Agency, SEPA, Network Rail, councils, and housing developers across the UK.

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer (CEng or IEng) to coordinate and support the delivery of Flex MSE, our vegetated retaining wall system. You will be based at our head office in Altrincham and work closely with our sales, delivery, and external design partners to ensure technically sound solutions across a range of infrastructure and landscaping projects.

This role is ideal for someone with a civil or geotechnical background who is ready to take ownership of technical delivery and wants to be part of a fast-growing and mission-led business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and coordinate designs for Flex MSE retaining wall and slope projects
• Liaise with external design engineers to ensure compliance and accuracy
• Interpret technical documents including ground investigations and structural reports
• Advise internal teams on technical feasibility and risks
• Work alongside the Estimations team on complex project tenders
• Occasionally visit sites to assist with project planning or support
• Contribute to the development of best practice and internal knowledge systems

Requirements:

• Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng or IEng) – Essential
• Reliable and organised
• 2+ years' experience in infrastructure, earthworks, or structural design
• Strong understanding of geotechnical principles and soil-structure interaction
• Confident reviewing and interpreting third-party designs and site data
• Able to communicate technical issues clearly with non-technical colleagues
• Competent in MS Excel and general civil engineering software
• Full clean UK driving licence
